Our story

Why this school exists

Qamaruddin Khan opened this school twenty years ago to teach the children of his own neighbourhood. When he started, the fee was ₹20 a month — later ₹100 — because the families here could not have sent their children to school otherwise. The fee has grown with the school, to ₹300 today. What has not changed is who this school is for: children whose parents never had the chance to study, and who deserve every chance to choose a different life.

कमरुद्दीन खान ने बीस साल पहले अपने ही मोहल्ले के बच्चों को पढ़ाने के लिए यह स्कूल शुरू किया था। शुरुआत में फीस ₹20 प्रति माह थी — बाद में ₹100 — क्योंकि यहाँ के परिवार इसके बिना अपने बच्चों को स्कूल नहीं भेज पाते। स्कूल के साथ फीस भी बढ़ी है, आज ₹300। जो नहीं बदला है वह यह है कि यह स्कूल किसके लिए है: वे बच्चे जिनके माता-पिता को पढ़ने का मौका कभी नहीं मिला, और जो अपने लिए एक अलग जीवन चुनने के हर मौके के हकदार हैं।

A child here is often the first in their family to hold a pencil in a classroom. It would be easy — and common — to tell such a child to want something modest: a steady job, a small life, nothing that draws attention. We refuse to do that.

यहाँ का बच्चा अक्सर अपने परिवार में पहला होता है जो कक्षा में पेंसिल पकड़ता है। ऐसे बच्चे को कुछ छोटा चाहने के लिए कहना आसान होता — एक स्थिर नौकरी, एक छोटी सी ज़िंदगी, कुछ भी जो ध्यान न खींचे। हम ऐसा नहीं करते।

Every child gets a buddy of their own.

हर बच्चे का अपना एक बडी होता है।

A class of twenty is small for India — but a teacher still cannot sit beside every child every day. So every student at Children Study also has something no school like ours has had before: a personal learning buddy that stays with them, every day, at their own pace.

बीस बच्चों की कक्षा भारत के लिए छोटी है — फिर भी एक शिक्षक हर दिन हर बच्चे के पास नहीं बैठ सकता। इसलिए चिल्ड्रन स्टडी के हर विद्यार्थी के पास एक और चीज़ है जो हमारे जैसे किसी स्कूल में पहले नहीं थी: एक निजी लर्निंग बडी जो हर दिन, उनकी अपनी गति से, उनके साथ रहता है।
